The Short Creek

Dream Center

How it all began

Founded in 2017, the Short Creek Dream Center opened to provide a safe space for women and children escaping human trafficking and domestic violence. The Center provides shelter, food, and life enrichment classes to its residents for free with the goal of directly supporting those escaping abuse and finding a new life.

The Mission

“It’s my dream to see this compound turned into a safe house and a refuge for victims - a place where they can grow, heal, get educated and find their strength and happiness. They need a safe place surrounded by others who understand what they have been through and who can give them hope for a better tomorrow.”
— Briell Decker

Nestled at the southernmost tip of Zion National Park, the Short Creek Dream Center is a beautifully positioned healing environment providing services to the Short Creek Community.

The Dream Center has the ability to provide residential life recovery skills and community engagement to hundreds each week.

What the Dream Center does:

Community

At Short Creek Dream Center, healing within community is important and a pivotal part of the healing journey. The Dream Center’s community engagement efforts are all about family — helping families be healthy, grow in love and be equipped to live life to its fullest potential. Regularly scheduled outreach events are open to the men, women and children of the community and include: food distribution, medical services, a clothing pantry, entertainment events and barbecue socials. Other events include sports activities, hiking, biking and other events that encourage healthy families.

Healing

The Short Creek Dream Center’s residential recovery program for young women and men has been uniquely crafted to meet the complex needs of those in the community struggling with a variety of life-controlling issues. Designed for young adults 18-26 years old, participants have access to licensed counseling, medical and behavioral health care and emotion based therapy.
